Cars that do not stop
More by default than anything else, Ford find themselves joint-top of a major US consumer survey. What does it say about a company however, that they can only tie for first place with a company whose reputation couldn’t have sunk much further in the past twelve months?
Toyota suffered terribly in the last twelve months, their reputation trashed following doubts about their braking technologies. What could be more damaging to a manufacturer, than revelations that your cars do not stop?
Ford also has the dubious distinction of being the only major US manufacturer to have avoided bankruptcy. The US car industry is therefore in a parlous state. And despite the report praising Ford for ‘safety, quality and value’, you cannot help but feel that these qualities are relative. And that the US industry has a lot of soul searching to do in the coming months and years.
